Nodular cast iron, like we use in the manufacture of Yukon Hardcore Diff Covers, features graphite particles that present as spherical nodules. These nodules give this type of cast iron more strength and flexibility because they interrupt the matrix less than regular gray cast iron, whose graphite particles take the shape of flakes within the grain of the metal’s microstructure.
